A Department of Justice Official has admitted to the targeting of pro-life activists through the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act as a response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
DOJ Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta delivered remarks at the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division’s 65th Anniversary earlier this month. The associate attorney general described the overturn of Roe v. Wade as a “devastating blow to women throughout the country” that took away “the constitutional right to abortion” and increased “the urgency” of the DOJ’s work in response to that—including the “enforcement of the FACE Act, to ensure continued lawful access to reproductive services.”
Despite gaslighting on the subject, it has been clear that the DOJ has been doing this with several high profile cases of pro-life activists being raided including speaker Mark Houck, who had his home raided in September.
The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division enforces the (FACE) Act, which “prohibits threats of force, obstruction and property damage intended to interfere with reproductive health care services.”
It purportedly protects both abortion clinics and pro-life pregnancy centers, as a DOJ official noted to Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, last week. But there has been very little investigation of the nearly 100 attacks on pro-life centers across the country since Roe was overturned.
At least 98 Catholic churches and 77 pregnancy resource centers and other pro-life organizations have been attacked since May, but the DOJ has apparently not charged a single person in connection with these attacks. Meanwhile, the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division has charged 26 pro-life individuals with FACE Act violations this year.
The FBI and, more broadly, the DOJ are proving to be an enforcement arm of the Death Cult of the State—the American Gestapo.
