Just days after New York legalized abortion up to the point of birth, legislators in Virginia are pushing for the same thing and even more barbaric laws. This is Democratic Virginia Governor Ralph Northam discussing the proposal:

“If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother,” Northam said, alluding to the physician and mother discussing whether the born infant should live or die.

This ladies and gentlemen is what’s called infanticide.

Of course, they have the caveat that this would only be for babies with severe deformities or if the baby isn’t viable, but that’s all a smokescreen (besides the fact that it’s an illegitimate defense for murder). The bill in question would allow abortion if giving birth would “substantially and irremediably impair the mental or physical health of the woman.” Notice how they struck “substantially and irremediably” from the bill so that infanticide would be legal if delivery would impair the mental or physical health of the woman.

Delivering a baby is stressful and I don’t think it’s possible to deliver a baby without impairing mental health of the mother.

Here’s the exchange in which Democratic Delegate Kathy Tran was questioned by Majority Leader Todd Gilbert:

As viewers see in the video, this is a particularly uncomfortable place for Tran. Imagine how uncomfortable it would be for the baby.
