Scott Ott brings up an interesting point during Bill Whittle’s Right Angle podcast answering the question can Kanye make Christianity cool?

His response is that, “Christianity was not made to be cool.”

And that’s exactly right. Coolness isn’t synonymous with popularity. Coolness as an attribute is about being aloof and not giving a damn. Whittle makes the point in the podcast that the modern culture promotes that people not give a damn because it’s not cool. “[The Left] have made virtue a vice.” Or, more like it, they’ve made vice a virtue to them.

Christianity is the exact opposite. It’s absolutely caring and, to keep the analogy going, Christianity is giving a lot of damns.

So, no Kanye cannot make Christianity cool. He can, as he’s doing, make it acceptable for people to not be cool and actually give a damn. He’s making it acceptable to be uncool by accepting Christ.

It is an amazing event in the history of Western Civilization.
