Actor Shia LaBeouf said he converted to Christianity while shooting his upcoming film “Padre Pio” and has become a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

LaBeouf revealed his conversion in an interview released Thursday with Word on Fire Catholic Ministries’ Bishop Robert Barron, crediting the traditional form Latin Mass in his conversion.

“Latin Mass affects me deeply,” LaBeouf said.

“How come?” Bishop Barron asked.

“Because it feels like they’re not trying to sell me a car…It feels almost like I’m being let in on something very special.”

LaBeouf praises the Latin Mass as Pope Francis is actively trying to prevent priests from celebrating it.

From another interview: “I’m Shia LaBeouf, and I’m completely immersed in something way bigger than myself. I don’t know if I’ve ever met a group of men as immersed in anything in my life. It’s super attractive to see people give themselves to something so divine, and it’s heartwarming to know that there’s a brotherhood like this that exists.“
